Digital Futures is thrilled to announce Lourdes De Agapito Vicente, Professor of 3D Computer Vision at University College London (UCL) and Co-Founder of Synthesia Technologies, as the keynote speaker at the upcoming Digitalize in Sthlm 2024 event.

Agapito’s keynote, Synthesia: From Computer Vision Research to Real-World AI Avatars, will explore the development of cutting-edge AI technology from academic research to practical applications. Synthesia, one of Europe’s newest billion-euro startups, specializes in AI-generated video content through realistic avatars. Its core technology, script-to-video, is used by over 50,000 companies globally, including 400 of the Fortune 500, and enables avatars to deliver dynamic presentations to virtual cameras. Agapito will explore how computer vision research has been translated into Synthesia’s real-world products.

Lourdes Agapito has an impressive background in computer vision research, particularly in extracting 3D information from images and video. After completing her PhD at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, she joined the Robotics Research Group at the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2013, she joined UCL’s Department of Computer Science and was promoted to full professor in 2015.

Agapito’s expertise has made her a key figure in the field, serving as Program Chair for prestigious conferences like CVPR 2016 and ICCV 2023. She has also been a keynote speaker at several high-profile events, including ICRA 2017 and ICLR 2021. In 2017, she co-founded Synthesia, the startup behind notable campaigns like the Malaria no Morevideo, where David Beckham appeared to speak nine different languages.

Digital Futures eagerly anticipates Agapito’s insights at Digitalize in Stockholm 2024 – now hurry up – REGISTRATION is open!
