Digital Futures at SWII – Digitization for Holistic & Sustainable Industries & Societies!

Jonas Mårtensson, Digital Futures faculty and Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, was one of the speakers at SWII – Digitization for Holistic & Sustainable Industries & Societies on 16 November in Empa Dübendorf, Switzerland.

In his presentation, “A Smart City Testbed for Reducing Noise and Emissions from Urban Traffic“, Mårtensson explained how the City of Stockholm, together with partners, is deploying a multipurpose sensor network in the “Innovation Zone Hornsgatan”. A framework for dynamically optimized traffic control with a view to reducing the negative impact associated with the transport system in dense urban areas, including congestion, pollutants and noise emissions, is envisioned. Now more partners are invited to contribute to Stockholm City’s digitalization and innovation agenda for a smart and connected city.

– Sweden and Switzerland are two countries with many innovative tech companies and with world leading research institutes and universities. The meeting gave many new connections for potential collaboration on smart city projects in Stockholm and Zürich, concludes Jonas Mårtensson.

Swiss-Swedish Innovation Initiative (SWII) is an industrial partnership where Sweden and Switzerland, as global innovation leaders and their most R&D intensive multinational enterprises, innovative SMEs and start-ups and the best-in-class academia team up in the co-creation of new top-notch industrial partnerships with co-funding available from EUREKA/Eurostars.
