Barbara Giunti
SEC scholar May – August 2024
Barbara Giunti‘s background is in topological data analysis, with a marked categorical approach. Giunti is also interested in the computational side of applied topology, especially in developing algorithms for retrieving invariants. She co-founded a database of real-world applications of applied topology, indexing over 450 works in several disciplines.
Giunti’s goal during this visit is twofold. First, she plans to tackle the stability of parametrized chain complexes in collaboration with Wojciech Chachólski. Secondly, she would like to start collaborations with the Digital Future experts in Industry and other applied areas to use applied topology tools to analyze their data. For this second goal, she would like to organize a seminar to explain to a non-mathematical audience the benefits and limitations of applied topology and how to use its tools effectively.
